Temazcal Ceremony

with CobAnanda

Thank you for your interest in sitting with us in Temazcal, the ancestral sweat lodge of Mesoamerica. In the Temazcal we return to the womb of Mother Earth: a small, dark, warm dome where grandmother stones glowing from the fire meet water, herbs and prayer. It is a ceremony of purification and rebirth, and one we hold with deep love and respect.

Below you'll find what to expect and how the day flows. If you have any doubts, concerns or questions, please let us know using the form below. 🔥🙏

What to expect...

Temazcal is held in a series of rounds, or "doors". At the start of each door, hot grandmother stones are welcomed into the center of the lodge, the door is closed, and water and medicinal herbs are poured over them to fill the space with steam. In the darkness we sing, pray and share, and each door carries its own intention.

The heat can be intense, and that is part of the medicine. It invites us to soften, surrender and let go of what we no longer need. You are always welcome to rest low to the ground where it is cooler, and to step outside if you need to. People often leave feeling lighter, clearer and deeply connected to their bodies, to each other and to the earth.

Please bring a towel, a change of clothes, light natural-fiber clothing or a sarong to wear inside, and plenty of water. We recommend eating lightly beforehand.

The Schedule...

Don't get too attached, as things often shift and flow once a ceremony is open, but the intention is as follows...

  • 8:30am We light the fire to heat the grandmother stones. You're welcome to come early and help tend it.

  • 10am Latest arrival, so there is time to settle in and set your intentions.

  • 11am We enter the Temazcal.

  • 2pm We share lunch together.

  • 3pm We close the day and depart.
