The journey becomes the offering high in the sacred Andes

A Pilgrimage is a prayer made by a community, and involves leaving home to travel to sacred sites (wacas) and make offerings to land and Spirit. Each year, our Pilgrimage community journeys together through Peru’s sacred valleys, hot springs, high mountain passes and ancient trails. On the way, we weave with plant medicine, communal prayer, and an authentic experience of the food, traditions and culture.

At a glance

Part 1 ↓: Sacred Valley, Lares & Ausangate
August 28 – September 7, 2027Five nights at the Munay Sonqo retreat center in Arin Valley, three nights at the Lares Hot Springs and then on to the sacred mountain of Ausangate. We stay in retreat centers and guest houses, working with the medicine of Washuma and Ayahuasca, temazcal sweatlodge and cacao.
Part 2 ↓: Trek around Apu Ausangate
September 7 – 14, 2027We hike and camp in tents in different breathtaking mountain sites, crossing passes over 5,000m (16,400ft) and leaving offerings to the Apus. The trail is moderately difficult. Horses carry the packs, and we work daily with Washuma and Coca for strength and connection to the mountain spirits.

Part 1

Sacred Valley, Lares & Ausangate

Days 1–5

Arin Valley

For the first five nights we will stay in the incredibly endearing village of Arin, which is famous for its spectacular waterfalls. We will be well cared for in the beautiful sanctuary of Munay Sonqo by the amazing local team there. This immaculate retreat center is secluded, safe and comfortable… perfect for deep inner work. Their Kitchen is authentic and masterful, providing three delicious meals each day that harmoniously accompany our spiritual work. All food is local and organic and they can accommodate any food restrictions. Enjoy being pampered, because the journey gets a bit more rustic from here on out!

Days 6–8

Lares Hot Springs

For the following three nights we will be in Lares Valley. The serene Lares Hot Springs provide a natural sanctuary amidst the awe-inspiring Andean mountains. Surrounded by magical mountain landscapes, we will journey with the medicine of Washuma, which concludes in the therapeutic warmth of natural thermal pools. Our second day at Lares will be an integration day with Cacao and song. This is a perfect opportunity for us to rest, relax and prepare for the journey upward that lies ahead.

Days 9–10

Apu Ausangate

Finally, we will make our way to one of the most ancient pilgrimage destinations in all of the Americas: the mountain of Ausangate. This behemoth of a mountain has been a sacred site of pilgrimage for thousands of years due to its incredible beauty and close proximity to the Incan city of Cusco. With permission from the guardians, we will have an opportunity to bathe in the frigid waters of the sacred Otorongo Lago, said to hold the power to cleanse generations of stored up Jucha (energetic baggage).

Part 2

Ausangate Trek

Part 2 of the Pilgrimage takes us to the majestic Apu Ausangate, an ancient Incan and pre-Incan pilgrimage site thousands of years old. We’ll hike 7 days around the mountain, crossing 5,000m (16,400ft) passes and leaving offerings to the Apus as we go. The trail is moderately difficult and weather-wise it is demanding—come prepared with waterproof shoes, warm clothes, rain jacket, and a warrior spirit. Horses will carry packs and we’ll work daily with Washuma and Coca for strength and spiritual connection.
